The project

From the watershed
to the water’s edge.

Designed for Santa Barbara County, this nine-panel series is presented in three groups on a wooden walkway above Arroyo Burro Estuary. Each group introduces a different part of the connected landscape: coastal waters, the local estuary, and the local watershed.

The artworks connect broad environmental ideas with recognizable species and places. Ocean imagery, estuary views, detailed wildlife photography, and a watershed map help visitors explore the relationships between land, freshwater, and the coast.

Three themes. One visual family.

Cyan, lime green, and yellow headers distinguish the three groups. Shared typography, translucent information fields, and a continuous wave-and-sand motif connect the square panels into a coordinated series.

01 / GROUP

Build a clear sequence.

Three panels per theme create focused reading stations along the walkway.

02 / RECOGNIZE

Bring wildlife closer.

Large images of fish, birds, and invertebrates turn the surrounding ecosystem into an invitation to look more closely.

03 / CONNECT

Follow the water.

Coastal, estuarine, and watershed stories reveal relationships across the broader landscape.
